Knee and Shoulder surgeon
MBBCh, FC(orth)SA, FRACS
My specialist training was completed in Johannesburg at Witwatersrand University in 2003. I subsequently completed a knee and shoulder fellowship under the supervision of Mr Mac Rogan and Mr Charles Breckon in Johannesburg. From there I went to Stoke-on –Trent England and was fellow to Mr David Griffiths and Mr Roger Wade again in Knee and shoulder surgery. Following this I was the knee fellow to Messrs Newman, Porteous and Eldridge in Bristol.
I was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Johannesburg General Hospital in 2006. I also worked at The Centre for Orthopaedics and Trauma in Johannesburg.
I accepted an offer to become a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Hawkes Bay Hospital in 2007. I currently work both at Hastings Hospital and the Royston Clinic.
I have limited my practice to knee and shoulder surgery because I believe that a limited scope of practice is the best way to deliver repeatable high quality service to my patients.
My special interests lie in uni-compartmental (or partial) knee replacements and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery.
As an active member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Training Committee, I participate regularly in the education and training of orthopaedic registrars.
